How to Make Your House Smell Good?

GET RID OF UNPLEASANT SMELL IN YOUR HOUSE

Over the course of the past year, it’s safe to say, our relationship with our homes has changed profoundly (albeit not by choice). Your house became your everything - your office, your little one’s school, your gym, your restaurant, your studio - you name it. But of course, your pets were the real winners in all of this.

Streaming service subscriptions were skyrocketing, with Indians taking the lead by spending nearly 11 hours on average per week streaming away. Hobbies were taken up and DIY projects were invested in.

There were times when we all wanted to throw in the towel and wish for nothing but a day at the spa. Alas, since that isn’t in the cards for a while, we’ll have to DIY our ambiance too. This is where one of our most powerful senses can be useful to us - our sense of smell.

Koparo’s All-Purpose Cleaner

How our surrounding smells can dictate so much, especially our moods without us even realising it. It can relieve our anxiety, destress us, make us more productive, and can even make us feel happy. So naturally, a fragrant house can do wonders for you and your family and can be overall uplifting.

Let’s take a look at some things that can cause some major stink and what you can do to make your abode smell heavenly!

Moisture

Moisture has time and again proven to be the mortal enemy of our skin, hair, food, and even our appliances. It can also be the leading cause of house odour. A dehumidifier will help you tackle this monster immediately.

The Fridge

Food preservation might be great but not when they’re lying forgotten at the back of your fridge. Try doing a weekly inventory and throw away all that isn’t needed.

  1. Make scrubbing the insides a monthly affair. Empty out your fridge including the shelves and the detachable bits. Soak them in a solution of warm water and Koparo’s Natural Dishwashing Liquid and leave them aside.
  2. Make a one-to-one solution of warm water, vinegar, and a drop of Koparo’s Natural Dishwashing Liquid and use this to clean the insides of the fridge.
  3. The outsides can be wiped using Koparo’s All-Purpose Cleaner and a fresh cloth.

Tiled Floor

A clean floor emanating a beautiful fragrance that lasts hours will leave feeling really content. That’s why we have your tiled floors covered. Add Koparo’s Natural Disinfectant Floor Cleaner to your bucket of water and wipe away. It is packed with the scent of Rose and Jasmine which are proven to be very relaxing scents.

Where to start your cleaning

Dustbins, litterboxes, pet-pillows or beds are items we know can cause odour but we get so used to their smell that we don’t come to know when they become stinky (and stinky is usually code for some malicious bacteria and fungus). Clean out your dustbin with soap and water at least twice a month. You can leave a fragrance pod inside your dustbin too. Litterboxes need to be emptied out and pet furniture must be washed regularly.

The Shoe Cupboard

Well, this one’s a bit inevitable. All the sweat, natural odour and moisture can lead to a rather smelly shoe corner. Try leaving your shoes out to dry in the sun. If the smell persists fill your socks with baking soda and leave them in your shoes and voila, the stench eliminator!

Rugs and carpets

Your prized rugs and carpets are a  notable absorber of stench, pet hair and dust (and sometimes an accidental spill). The good old vacuum can do the trick here. You can even sprinkle some baking soda a few hours prior to your vacuuming it. Yet some things are beyond your humble vacuum’s pay grade so it is advisable to call the professionals for a deep clean at least once a year for this one.

Scented Candles

Scented Candles are your best friends, lit or otherwise. Light them around the house or place them, unlit, in areas such as your closet. Your fabrics are bound to absorb the smell. This will leave your cupboards fragrant for days.

House Plants

During you next nursery visit go for a more fragrant plant such as jasmine or perhaps gardenia.

Pleasant indoor plants to check out-:

  • Night Blooming Jasmine

  • 'Silverdrop' Eucalyptus

  • Corsian Mint

  • Lemon Balm

  • 'Crown Jewel' Gardenia
