How to clean your appliances?
CLEANING YOUR APPLIANCES
No Washing Machine. No problem. Said No one Ever.
Home & Kitchen appliances have been such a boon all through 2020. We love our shiny gadgets but, how good are we at taking care of them?
Here's an easy cleaning & upkeep routine of your favourite appliances.
1. Washing Machine
Our very favourite, giving us fresh and clean clothes daily, the regular usage of washing machines gives rise to a build-up of dirt and mould inside. This could further lead to an unpleasant odour and diminished effectiveness.
How to clean it?
- Add two cups of white vinegar and let the cycle run. (If you have a front loading machine, pour the vinegar into the detergent dispenser.) For an extra-clean washing machine, repeat the cycle with a half-cup of baking soda.
- Scrub the insides and outsides of the machine
- Do not forget to clean out the washing machine filter. Some detergent, dust, hair and lint can clog up a filter pretty quickly reducing the efficiency of your washing machine.
Frequency: Once a month is a must!
2. Toasters
Eating toast for breakfast is a very common habit in families; so when you notice the crumbs around the toasters, can you imagine the insides! Dirty toasters are fire hazards in the house.
How to clean it?
- Unplug the machine, remove the drawers.
- Dump the crumbs in the trash.
- Scrub out the leftovers.
- Ensure it is completely dry before using it again.
3. Refrigerators
We store our food, away from the warm temperatures of our surroundings, in the refrigerator. Fresh food, packaged, everything has its place - and this is bound to leave marks and grime all over. It is frequently used, and must be cleaned often because a clean fridge helps you use space efficiently and keep food fresher!
Do you know?
Albert Einstein is the Co-Inventor of the Refrigerator.
How to clean it?
- Unplug and empty the appliance.
- Clean the removable trays with Koparo's All-Purpose Cleaner
- Wipe and dry thoroughly.
- Use a brush to scrub any stains or leftovers.
- Wipe all corners and parts with a cleaner (you can use baking soda too) .
- Clean the exteriors with a microfiber cloth
Frequency: Once every 2 months is a must to keep it neat and clean.
4. Microwave and Oven
Liquid spilling over, cheese melting, veggies falling all over the ground are a constant with these two appliances. Both have to be cleaned well for durable use, and so that the leftovers don’t affect our meals.
Microwave
You will notice splatters on the roof and the walls of the machine, which can lead to the formation of mold.
How to clean?
- Get half a cup of water and white vinegar in a microwave safe bowl
- Run the machine till the water & vinegar boil
- The steam will help loosen all the grime
- Once the machine cools down, use a cloth to wipe the interiors
- Use Koparo’s All Purpose Cleaner to clean the exteriors, freeing it from stains
Frequency: Once every 2 weeks if you use it regularly, or once in a month would work.
Oven
It is used less, only when we venture out to experiment with breads, pizzas or baked dishes. But, the droppings are enough to dirty the machine
How to clean?
- Unplug the machine
- Use a combination of water and white vinegar, or Koparo’s All Purpose Cleaner to wipe away the grime
- For stubborn stains and build ups, use a brush with vinegar to scrape it off
- Clean the insides and let it dry completely
- Wipe off the stains on the rack with a simple mix of water and dishwashing liquid
- Use a cleaner on a microfiber cloth for the outsides of the machine.
Frequency: Once a month if used very less, or once in 2 weeks helps the machine.
5. Mixer & Blender
It’s sitting very comfortably on your counter, used for the multiple chutney’s, juices we make on a regular basis. Our mixer blenders do a good job of crushing the food well, but in the process, do you notice how the liquid splatters all over the machine? In the insides, in the outsides, the liquid leaves a sticky stain if not cleaned immediately.
How to clean it?
- After every use, rinse the machine with water
- Add warm water and a few drops of Koparo’s Dishwashing Liquid and run it for 10-15 seconds, leave it to dry
- Take the machine apart - lid & blades, rinse it hot water before assembling it again
- Use a brush dipped in water & dishwashing liquid to clean out the buttons, knobs etc.
- Wipe it down with a clean cloth and leave it to dry
Frequency: Rinse it after every use: and for extensive cleaning, do it once every 2 weeks so it functions properly.
We hope this makes cleaning and caring for your cherished kitchen appliances easier! Give it a go, and let us know if you have any additional questions.
